Congrats Thomas Kiglics

In addition to celebrating leadership among our team, we love sharing stories of KEP kids following in the leadership footsteps of their parents! KEP’s Director of Quality Assurance, Beverly Kiglics’s son, Thomas Kiglics, recently earned the honor of Eagle Scout.

Thomas Kiglics, a member of the Boy Scout Troop #270 and a resident of Stow, has earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank that the Boy Scouts offer. 

The Eagle Scout rank has become widely recognized as a mark of distinction both within and outside of Scouting. Once earned, it is worn for life. About 4 percent of Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank. To do so, Scouts must demonstrate their understanding of leadership, service, character, personal fitness, and outdoor skills at multiple levels.

While in scouting, Thomas earned 25 merit badges. In addition to the 21 life skills merit badges required to earn the Eagle Scout rank, each Scout must complete an extensive self-directed service project. For his final project Thomas built a choir closet at his church, Faith Lutheran Church in Kent, that is now used to store and protect the robes and supplies for the vocal and bell choir.

A ceremony honoring Thomas was held November 4 at the United Methodist Church in Stow and was attended by Scouts, family, friends and several church members. His friend and fellow Scout, Cameron Jones, was the emcee while Eagle Scouts Thomas Biggs and Ben Borthwick presented the Eagle obligations. Thomas was honored by Stow Mayor, James Costello’s special award and Councilman Mike Rasor’s congratulatory speech.

Thomas presented mentor pins to his past and present Scoutmasters, Mark Thiese, Brian Davids, Mike Desessa and Brian McCaffrey, and his uncle, Dave Vought.
