Just Stand There
We employ a tool in our facilities called “Stand-in-a-Circle.” During this 30 minute activity, an employee stands on a multi-colored circular rug and jots down 30 observations for improvement.
By turning our team into constant observers and auditors, they are trained to notice and think about their surroundings, processes and improvements. Our teams’ observations include everything from lean improvements to environmental and safety suggestions, and more. Each participant’s picture and comments are posted on our on bulletin boards to show the identified improvements to be made.
From noticing opportunities to recycle nylon fishline byproduct, saving 4,000 lbs./yr. from going to a landfill, to identifying processes where redundant steps can be eliminated to reduce double handling, our teams’ observations have led to numerous improvements! Creating continuous value for our customers!
