Big Picture Accountability
Cheri Thompson, Manager of Winesburg Operations, keeps everyone on task, making sure our business runs smoothly without interruption. Cheri not only keeps our team accountable, she’s always available – and employs an open-door policy with her Winesburg team.
Cheri also thinks outside the box, uses unconventional thinking and challenges when she sees a possible improvement to make sure we meet our customers’ needs.
For instance, one customer thought that changing the maximum height of products stacked on a pallet would save them on shipping costs.
The customer requested that KEP reduce the maximum height of products on a pallet from 62” to 52”. Cheri listened – then did her homework.
The Report
Cheri’s report back to the client revealed that the short-term gain for having products lower, and easier to ship, would also lead to MORE pallets. Overall, when you did the math, shipping volume goes up – and so would costs.
In addition, Cheri researched the situation and reported to our customer that their warehouse would now require more space for less inventory.
The Result
Our customer decided to avoid problems before they started and mostly stay with the 62’’ maximum height on pallets and ship bi-weekly to maximize efficiencies and dollars spent.
That’s service you can see. Cheri thinks it through. That’s SAVINGS you can see, too. That’s EFFICIENCY you can see.
To understand the value of the big picture, Cheri is able to look at the granular level and add up the pros and cons more exactly. That makes the BIG picture more accurate.
