Background:

Kent Elastomer Products prides itself on being a partner to customers. This extends to matters beyond product manufacturing and into assembly, warehousing and shipping. We’re happy to go the extra mile to make it work for customers, too.

Occasionally, customers require special labeling options. These range from simple format changes, specific layouts and different barcode types (from UPC-A, Code 39, EAN-128, etc.) to requesting customized labels with customer logos, linked data in a barcode, or even die-cut, special-fit labels in full-color.

Challenge:

Initially, the labeling software we used had limited capability to produce custom labels, particularly barcodes. We knew we needed to:

• Select the best software to fit the needs of our customers.
• Find a supplier to replicate custom logos at an affordable price.
• Ensure that labels meet customer requirements and could be scanned by their equipment.

Solution:

We are able to provide customers with options from several standard label formats and make any modifications as needed. After creating samples, we scan the barcodes to ensure that they function properly, and we send proofs to customers for their approval. Customers then approve the layout, spelling, punctuation, foreign language acceptance, barcode type and perform their own test scans.
